Is there a way to add timed tasks to assets?
We like to replace hard drives on systems with more than 30K hours. This is roughly 3.5 years. I would like to get reminders to replace HDD's on a systems when it has been running for 3.5 years. Is there a way to do this in CommitCRM? |

Easiest thing would be to add a new Task under the Asset, set it to 3.5 years from installation and set it up with a popup reminder. Tasks can be added from the Pending and Preview tabs. In addition, you can add Tasks using the More Actions menu on the Assets toolbar.

No, Tasks are personal so you'll get it.
Here's another idea for you to consider - Each Asset has an installation date. So, when you install an hard drive that you track as an Asset you can set the Installation date to the same date. Besides, you can classify the Asset as Hard Drive. Then - you can run periodic reports where their query is - All Assets that are Hard Drive and their Installation Date is within a selected date range (or 3.5 years ago, etc.). Done! You now have a report of all hard drives that were installed 3.5 years ago. In any case, both options will work. Hope this helps. |
