MSP Time Engine - A modern web app companion for RangerMSP

    Hello everyone,

We have been using CommitCRM/RangerMSP in our company for eight years or more, and it continues to be the core system we rely on for our tickets, accounts, charges, history, and billing workflow.

Over time, our team started wanting a more modern web-based way to handle technician time entry and review. We were not looking to replace RangerMSP, move away from it, or build a competing PSA. RangerMSP is still the system of record for us. What we wanted was a better front-end workflow that works alongside RangerMSP and makes daily time tracking easier for technicians and managers.

That led us to build a small set of tools around RangerMSP:

    MSP Time Engine
A modern web interface for technicians to enter, review, and manage their time throughout the day. The goal is to make time entry faster, cleaner, and easier to stay on top of.

    Ranger Sync Agent
A local sync component that reads the needed RangerMSP data and keeps MSP Time Engine aware of tickets, accounts, charge types, users, and related information.

    Ranger Write Bridge
A controlled write-back service that sends completed time entries and updates back into RangerMSP, so RangerMSP remains the source of truth.

To be clear, MSP Time Engine is not useful on its own and is not intended to replace RangerMSP. It only makes sense for companies already using RangerMSP/CommitCRM and wanting a more modern technician-facing time entry workflow while continuing to use RangerMSP for operations and billing.

We built this because it solved a real problem for our own team. Before going much further with it, I wanted to gauge interest from other RangerMSP/CommitCRM users.

Some of the things we focused on include:
    • Faster daily time entry for technicians
    • A cleaner web dashboard for reviewing the day
    • Easier backfilling of missing time
    • Better visibility into billable and non-billable time
    • Manager review tools before entries are finalized
    • Keeping RangerMSP as the system of record
    • Writing completed work back into RangerMSP instead of replacing the existing workflow

This was built because we have used RangerMSP for years and want to keep using it, while improving the day-to-day technician experience around time entry.

Would anyone else using RangerMSP/CommitCRM be interested in something like this?

I would mainly like to know:
    • Are other teams struggling with technician time entry in the current workflow?
    • Would a modern web-based time entry layer be useful if it still wrote back to RangerMSP?
    • What would you want to see in a tool like this?
    • Are there concerns about sync, write-back, billing accuracy, or permissions that would need to be addressed?

I would appreciate any feedback from other RangerMSP users. At this stage, I am mostly trying to understand whether this is something that would be useful to others, or if it is mainly solving a problem specific to our own internal process.

Thank you for sharing this. From the screenshots it looks great and seems like it may improve your team's day-to-day workflow while keeping RangerMSP at the center of your operations. Thanks.
