    Upgrade

We are trying to upgrade to V30 and it keeps giving an error stating "upgrade cannot continue since other users are currently logged in to Ranger MSP either on your LAN, CRM web interface or by using third party plug-ins" It does not tell us which.
We have closed all instances of the desktop and web versions. We have stopped the web services and stopped all quickbooks services. Is there someway to find out exactly what is stopping this upgrade?

    Re: Upgrade

Also, we are at v28, but I can find no download for V29

      Re: Upgrade

      Thank you for posting this.

Using the dedicated upgrade program, you upgrade directly from version 28 to 30.
Simply download the upgrade program to version 30 and run it on your server as an administrator. Done!

The message you mentioned usually means that there were still open database sessions and the upgrade program was not able to close them and/or was not able to stop the server-side services by itself.

It may be related to the insufficient permissions, therefore, as hinted above, please run the upgrade program directly on the server and as an administrator - by right-clicking the file and selecting 'Run as Administrator' in order to workaround the possible permissions issue

You can also stop the following Windows services manually: CRM Server, CRM Web Interface, CRM RMM Server (if installed), Microsoft IIS (if used).

Rebooting the server may also help as this should close any open files and sessions.

      Hope this helps!

        Re: Upgrade

We had a similar issue upgrading Ver 28 to Ver 30 but gave Error Code 32, and the message

        Verify that -
        1) You have all privileges and access rights to the RangerMSP folers and files
        2) No one else is currently running RangerMSP client.

So, as usual about to blast off an email to Sheli and Dina ;o) . We are the administrator on the server so not (1), but we found the issue to be "open files".

We have RangerMSP installed on a Server 2012 so compmgmt.msc and look at Shared Tools, Shared Files, and Open Files and found an old user had Commit files open from months ago; in fact, we had removed their login so not sure what was open!?

Closed open files and ping the upgrade completed and opened. Phew!

        Hope this helps someone.

        Regards
        Mark
