When you Modify an Item it DOES NOT update the existing contract charges that CONTAIN an item.

I understand why (you may not WISH to retroactively update legacy clients plans, etc)

But often this would be VERY helpful (ie - we are all having to update our CSP items to reflect Microsoft's NCE, that means updating (or replacing SKUs).

It would be NICE if when you changed a BASE item, RangerMSP should ask you:

You have x (active contracts/open tickets/active Contract Billing Plans) with charge items containing this item, CHECK the box next to the contracts/tickets where the charge item should be updated to reflect the new description/sku/price, etc). Then a list item box with checkboxes (and a select all, clear all)...

Our updating of contracts for price changes to items is a giant bear right now.

Unless I'm missing a method in RangerMSP to update items globally or search/replace somehow.

Thanks!

Thank you for posting this.

Indeed editing the Item details (description/price) does not affect existing Charges and settings.

We see why this may be expected with Charges that have not been billed yet, especially if prices are based on the default Item price and are not customized per customer/Contract.

We will log your suggestions for review. Thanks.

In order to update the existing Charges (including Contract-Price Charges) you can try using the tool that supports exporting and importing Charges.

First you should export the list of Charges you want to update - it is important to include the Record ID field, in order the existing Charge will be updated when importing back, otherwise a new record will be created.

After exporting the data, you can update the prices/rates in Excel and then import the file back into RangerMSP.

Our suggestion is to perform a test with only a few records first and only then to import all records you need to be updated.

As we're dealing with Charges and bulk edits here, please also take a BACKUP prior importing data.

Hope this helps!
