Connection refused
Error Code Received from your POP3 Mail Server: 10061

I know this is a mail error, but what is causing this?

We use our mail system daily without any problems, but CommitCRM keeps getting this error.

Part of the problem is, since we cannot delete the error when it appears, we don't know if it is a new error, or a reminder of an old error.

Either way we log in and restart CommitCRM service, and it seems to come back within 24 hours.

This error message is indeed returned from your mail server. In general it means that the connection to the mail server is refused (by the mail server).

Unfortunately we cannot tell why the mail server refuses the connection, simply because it does not say.

It's possible that it is a mail server policy that limits email sending for a specific process so I would check there (in case you have any control over the mail server you use). Maybe it's your anti-virus/spam package used that monitors sales volume per process, etc.

Maybe if we increase the time between mail checks?

Yes, this is definitely something to try.
