Is it possible to point the 'type' of asset to a different field? We have customised a field to show product type and this has been populated however when doing a quick filter the checkbox for 'type' points to asset type, can we change where this points or can we get the customised 'product type' to gather values from the 'asset type' (we have tried changing this but get the error "the values list cannot be selected for this current field") We know the option is there to change the filter in the find drop-down to show our 'product type' field but would like to adjust the quick find if possible.

Thank you for asking.

The Asset Type field is an advanced system field. Asset configuration notes, among other stuff, are linked and rely on the special values set, behind the scenes, to the Type field - then, when adding new Assets, for example, the system wizard helps you go through the process of auditing the configuration of the specific Asset. As such it cannot be replaced with 'standard' fields.

To manage Asset Types values visit Settings > Assets > Manage Asset Types menu option.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick response to this, so, if the 'type' can't be changed can we point the new 'product type' previously 'field 5' to the 'asset type' field?

You're welcome! As the field types is entirely different it isn't possible. You'll need to review your Asset and manually update the value in Field5 to the "real" Asset Type field.

Hope this helps.
