contracts-new version

With the new version it states we can change the "type" of a contract. Where is that done? In the general tab it still does not allow this. Would this be only for contracts created under the new version and not ones created previously?

You should select the Contract in the list and then from the Contracts main menu select the Change Contract Type option.
