Quotes convert to existing ticket - feature request

About 50% of our business is residential, so we (depending on the issue with the machine brought in) usually tell the clients we'd like to run a full diagnostic on the machine before doing any work, and that way we can give them a solid quote on repair.

A ticket is created w/ est. charges of 'Diagnostic Charge' that we print out and they sign (required by state law); when we figure out what is needed to repair, we call them back and quote them X for repair.

It would be really nice if we could in these cases using the Quotes module create the quote(s) for the client, and depending on which one 'won' convert that quote or those charges over to the existing open ticket.

Currently, sending the charges over direct from the quote to the account won't tie it in with the existing ticket. Creating a new ticket is creating a bit more work.

    Thanks!

Currently you can convert a Quote into a new Ticket and all Quotes Lines are converted into Charges under the new Ticket.

And, you can also convert a Quote into Charges and - during this process - link the Charges to an existing Ticket.

Besides, our next release will support the option to create Quote from and existing Ticket or link a Quote to an existing Ticket :)

That will take care of what I am looking for. Thanks!

We dont use quotes because they seem to create more problems than they solve. That and the added work.

The ability to create a quote from a ticket might change that.

        Looking forward to the update.
