I've looked closely into TigerPaw and ConectWise. I've actually bought CW, and may return it (it was $15k to do what CommitCRM does for $2k). It has some serious bonuses, but also some things that...

NOD32's been excellent for detection and run speed - not as sure how it works in a corporate environment, but we used it as our primary virus remover on the tech benches here for years.

I don't agree with the other two posts.

Windows 7 is excellent. We've been on it since RC1, converted our office and even our tech benches to it.

Don't upgrade. Fresh install, and watch what Vista...

Stay away from CA (Computer Associates)'s ITM or consumer. We've been behind them for years, good pricing (as low as $10 a machine), but the reliability of their deployment tools/management is...

GCS: You can always hire a SQL programmer to do some exporting from Act - everything can come out if you have the $$/need. Getting into CommitCRM is a different step, but I'm sure he can either...

Okay,

I run a small shop with 4 guys. We have our 4 licenses. Every now and then CommitCRM thinks we're running more somehow, and shuts down a client.

I don't have a problem with the idea, I...

lopejoy - We just went with Connectwise (more expensive than TP, but it does WAY more, and it's also a slicker interface. I almost bought TP, but spending a day with CW demos, I'm sold).

We still...

Avey:

We use NovaNet - And it's ancient, but we put a lot of $$ into it years ago for the licenses, and it still runs on 2003 clients, so what the heck - We'll milk it and save up some cash for...

That's a very complex question - I've been struggling with it as well. I know that lawyers on retainer will often give a 10-15% discount for being paid in advance, which would also result in a 0% -...

What's the way to get around this? I often will work from say 6pm - 3:38 am for a client, and I can't enter the time into CommitCRM because it says "End time is Prior to Start Time"

Can it just not...

Oh, and to the CommitCRM team response:

Yes, you guys do a great job, and CommitCRM is excellent for what it is - but it's a bit small. Your support and development is great, but I sometimes wonder...

Don't forget that often when there is a problem, it's because there is a difference in the level of quality expected.

If you tech is easy going, odds are that he will think that fix A is perfectly...

You know, what's funny about that, is that a few of my customers really value their deleted email as well.

In many ways, the "delete" button is a great way to file your email done. Outlook should...

I've had serious burnout twice, learned how to skirt it now, and just stay on the edge of it. I've gone as far as not being able to sleep at night, heart palpatations, digestive issues, etc.

Been...

Ah yes, everyone seems to be in the same boat as me - QB is only good for very simply inventory, and using another program yet again just increases the time it takes to perform administrative tasks,...

How are you guys doing your inventory? Asset management is decent in Commit, but we still need to track a lot of accessory items like memory, etc. Even if it's just to cut down on theft or misplacing...

We keep our fees the same across the board for customers, with vry few exceptions. It's too hard to track what you're supposed to be billing someone, and leads to occasional errors.

Now, when you...

We charge a 1/2 hour minimum for a diagnosis. We usually roll it into the cost of the repair if it was easy to find , and if it's hard to find the problem, it's added on to the total labour if we're...

Ha..

Ditch bad customers right away. When they make unreasonable requests, and you tell them to look elsewhere, they either smarten up, or they go - either way, problem solved.

BUT - Don't ditch...

We've switched to ArcServe a few years ago due to issues with Veritas (just before Symantec bought them, and at the time I was so unimpressed with what they were doing with Norton, I didn't want to...
