We were running into an issue where we CommitCRM was telling us our licenses were full, when only 4 users were logged in. Upon investigating I found the CommitCRM server service on the server was using a license. Is this service necessary for anything when using the Advantage database?

Thank you for posting this.

'RangerMSP Server' server is a component that is responsible for the Email Connector, Alerts Server and API related features.

When using RangerMSP with the SQL backend, any program that needs to access to database requires a database connection. All server sides services (RangerMSP Web Interface, RangerMSP Server and RangerMSP RM Server) consume and share one SQL database connection, therefore while you have 5 SQL concurrent connection licenses, when you use server side components it means that you can use 4 concurrent RangerMSP client sessions, this is because the 5th database connection license is used by the RangerMSP Services that run on your server.

Hope this helps.

Darn that stinks. Is there any way to purchase one additional license or do I have to buy another 5 pack?

These are only offered by the database vendor in packs of 5 additional SQL connections, in a price that is usually considered to be very reasonable. Check here for details.
