SQL Database version

I noticed there was a new SQL engine with the release of version 18. We have the SQL add-on option and I was wondering if we needed to update the SQL server manually or if the installer will update that automatically?

You may have the correct SQL version already - please run the advantage configuration utility on your server. In case it lists version 11 you're all set and can continue with the upgrade.
