How do I change the default to not open the file?

The default setting for this option can be changed under Tools > Options > Documents tab, note that this only affects emails dragged to RangerMSP.

How can we change the default for images and documents?

Currently there is no such default for other file types. We already logged this idea and will consider to adding such an option. Thanks.
