We do Managed Services and have time limits tied to a couple of our offerings. In one offering, they get unlimited phone support and one hour onsite support PER COMPUTER PER MONTH.

Is it possible to setup a contract to monitor the onsite billing and if it goes over one hour on a particular computer to then make the charge billable? They can have 15 hours of onsite service in a given month all of which would be non-billable (1 hour on 15 different computers). Or they could have 3 hours and 2 would be billable (all 3 hours on one computer).

We are currently tracking this by hand and as we grow, this is getting harder and harder to do. Any solutions or suggestions?

Thank you for posting this.

Well, tracking a block of time per-device included in the same contract is complex, whether tracked manually or using a software. It is possible to track such Charges using Contracts, however it means that you will need to create a separate Contract with 1 hour block for each computer so this might be a bit cumbersome depending on the number of computers you service this way. Also the technician will have to select the correct contract when adding onsite Charge. So, it's doable though not ideal.

From what we see many times, when a managed contract is agreed with the client the block of time isn't per device but globally for the customer. Even when each managed device adds X amount of time to the contract block - it accumulates to a single block that can be used in any way related to the devices (or customer), such contracts can be much more easily tracked and RangerMSP includes many tools to support these. Anyway, just sharing this bit here.

With your specific requirement we may also suggest the following workflow - technicians can add such Charges from the Asset details - using 'Add' drop down menu in the desktop application or using 'Create for Asset...' menu while viewing Asset details in Web Interface. Adding the Charges using this option will allow them to see the Charges linked to particular Asset in application (via 'Add' menu > Show Charges created from Asset').
In addition there is a report 'Asset Details incl. Tickets and Charges' under Charges that may help tracking all tickets with charges logged for an asset.

Hope this helps.
