Saving Documents to the server

RangerMSP User Question*

I am trying to get the documents to attach to copy to the server. They keep putting the link to my local C drive.
I select copy to RangerMSP and I changed the paths in the options but it keeps putting them local. How is this setup on the workstations so everything is saved to the server?

Answer

The paths set under Options are used as default for new Accounts, ones that you haven't yet stored documents to.
Saying it differently - the folder to store the document under is set by the 'Docs Dir' field value of the Account (under its 'Details' tab) - and one isn't set yet - the global Options settings take place.

Moving forward, you should visit the Account record you try to file documents under and check the folder it points to, in case it's C:/... change it to anywhere on the server you wish and save. Done! New documents for this Account will now get stored under the server.
