is there a way to get a specific tab to be the default tab when we open something... for instance, can we make the Resolution/History tab the default tab for tickets or the Tickets tab the default for the Account window?

If not, this is a suggestion (would need to do this per user).

I think i saw that as an option somewhere. I recently changed it so that when i login it defaults to my tickets.

I may have seen it when I was poking around and found that.

Yes, nattivillin is correct, there is such a feature - under Tools > Options Window you can select the default tab to use under the different tabs - Accounts, Tickets-1, Opportunities, Contracts, Assets, etc.
