I've made an activity template for my PC Healthcheck service that adds numerous tasks to the ticket. I want to print a task list out with check boxes and a notes section so that as each task is performed I can tick it off and make any notes. I made a simple report to do this but the problem is the task list doesn't come out in the correct order. They are time ordered on the pending page for the client but it seems to be sorting them randomly on the report. how do I correct this?

Thanks

Thanks for posting this. I just tested it with system reports and it works well and well sorted. Maybe this has something to do with the customized report. Please test it and check whether it works well with a system report for you.

Thanks for the reply Dina.

I've tested it with all 3 Calender System Reports and the order is still messed up.

Maybe you need to re-index your database. While rarely required from what you described it may help. Please contact us directly for more information.

Hi, I've re-indexed my database as suggested and it hasn't made any difference. I've even tried creating a new Activity Template and it still seems to sort them with no logic. What criteria does the report engine use to determine the order of tasks?

Thanks for the update. We've re-checked everything now and as far as we can tell all is working well with Tasks reports - they are sorted by the Task date.
It's either there's a local issue at your end or maybe we simply don't understand what you are referring to. Please send us some screenshots/PDFs that demo the situation and we'll continue from there. Thanks.

Ok. I have several pending tasks for my client. they were created in the order you see below:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19330069/Pending%20Tasks.JPG

As you can see task 1 starts earlier than task 2 and task 2 starts earlier than task 3 etc.

If I now run a report such as reports>Calendar>Brief Appointments/Task Report they come out in a random order like this:

Hopefully this makes the issue clearer.

Thanks! Got that. You are correct and within the same date in reports it is indeed not sorted, but between different days it is sorted correctly (this is how we tested it here). We will open an issue for this in our system so it'll be sorted in the same day as well. Thanks for your help.

Is this something that can't be fixed until it is patched in then?

Unfortunately there isn't a workaround here :-(

Is this fix likely to be included in the next update and how close are we to a new update?

It is on our list. Unfortunately I'm not sure whether it'll make it, we're already in the QA phase of the next release and it's not included. However, we will revisit this and I will post back here in case we have any additional updates.

Thanks,
Dina

Did this issue get resolved in any of the updates after version 6.0?

Unfortunately no. I must have fallen between the cracks and we will approach this in our next release. Thanks!
