View Full Version : Accounts misteriously changing from be filed by company name to contact name

We keep noticing companies we have setup that are filed by company name suddenly being filed by the contact name. 1st is there a way to force all to be by company if it exists, and second has anyone else seen this problem?

After the value is set RangerMSP does not modify it. It is only being modified by either a user or when a user perform massive contact, company name and File As updates.

Records default to being Companies but you can always change it. It cannot be forced globally - for example - Joe from ACME company - it's possible the ACME is the customer (and this is the default) but sometimes Joe is the customer (as a consumer) and you just want to mention where he works, etc.

Ok. Is there a way for us to go back and mass change those back. We keep running in to a number of them and want to change all the ones with companies back to file by company name. Thanks

While a powerful Batch accounts feature exists, it is not designed to change the File As... field automatically as unlike standard batch updates (like update all to Status=Active) the desired update should take data from each record individually (the company name) and therefore it cannot be achieved. You will need to carefully update the relevant accounts manually to be filed as companies.
