I can't believe how long it takes CommitCRM to run a report... Just to do an employee charge report for a couple months takes CommitCRM like 2 minutes... ??? I've got fast processors and lots of RAM, but CommitCRM doesn't seem to care. This is 2010 and it is taking 2 minutes to report on an incredibly small amount of data?

Ok, time to go home.

Hi Luke,

Thanks for reporting this.

Taking the system you've described into consideration with the fact that you've also recently upgraded your system; generating such Charge reports shouldn't be working as slow as you say it is, and if it is, then there might be an underlying issue causing this. We'd like to gather some information from you regarding what else the server is doing while serving RangerMSP to your network, so that we can rule out the usual suspected process that might cause latency issues. Can you offer any feedback on the following bullets for our preliminary analysis?

Does the report take the same amount of time to generate from all your computers, or just a specific computer?

Does it take the same amount of time if you try generating the report from the client application on the RangerMSP server itself?

Do you have an active (Scans processes and modified files on the fly) or passive (only performs periodic scans) antivirus on the RangerMSP server folders? If it's of the active type, can you exclude the \RangerMSP folder (including all sub-folders) temporarily to see if this solves it?

If the issue persists, then there might be something with one of the database tables. In that case, we'd like to perform a direct analysis of your database locally in our labs to diagnose this in the event that the Antivirus isn't causing this issue. In the event that we'll need to proceed with the more advanced analysis, we ask that you contact us over the direct email channel with regards to this issue, and we'll update this forum post with the end result once we get this resolved.

Let us know how this goes.

Reno Breen

The report takes the same amount of time from any computer - including when it is run directly from the server (which has no AV installed).

The report I am running is under Charges - "Employee Charges Summary". The actual time to run it (from the server) is 2 min and 40 seconds.

While running the report, the CommitCRM process uses about 10-20% of the processor and the ads.exe process uses 0-2%. Again this is on the server (Xeon processors & 8GB of RAM). A report such as an invoice or a single ticket is fairly responsive.

Thanks for your help,

Luke

Hi Luke,

We'll contact you directly over email to arrange a deeper analysis of your database to find the cause for this behavior. Once we have some answers from that, we'll update this forum post for the community.

Thanks for your prompt feedback.
